Exciting Automotive Event and launch of the Advanced Engineering Business Acceleration Hub to take place in Bath city centre
The Advanced Engineering Business Acceleration Hub (AEBAH) is the latest enterprise hub to be set up by the University of Bath in partnership with the SETsquared, the world’s number one university business accelerator.
The AEBAH is funded by the European Regional Development to create jobs and growth in the region by helping 130 innovative companies in the West of England achieve their potential. The hub will also connect companies with academics at the University of Bath for knowledge exchange, research and expertise, as well as business-university research partnerships. The programme is open to all SMEs and startups in the advanced engineering sector, and will be of particular interest to companies interested in engaging with the £60m Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS) that is scheduled to open in 2020.
On Wednesday 13th March 2019 the University of Bath will host an Automotive Industry Network (AIN) event at the APEX Hotel in Bath. The event will bring together academia and industry to address the latest challenges within the automotive sector - there will be a mixture of presentations, workshop and panel discussions followed by a drinks reception to officially launch the Advanced Engineering Business Acceleration Hub.
Along with academics from the University of Bath, attendees will include organisations that span the automotive sector from startups to OEMs. As part of the event industrial participants are also being invited to showcase their work in the networking area.
The AIN event provides a perfect platform to officially launch the Advanced Engineering Business Acceleration Hub - bringing together industry representatives and various businesses to network with - the AEBAH informal launch event will be a great opportunity for everyone in the room to get together and continue to network. The launch event, being held at the end of the day, will help cement the AEBAH programme with key influencers and hopefully attract SMEs and startups to the programme.
Talking about the AEBAH, Brian Prescott, Entrepreneur in Residence for the Advanced Engineering Business Acceleration Hub based at Bath SETsquared Innovation Centre, says,
“Through the AEBAH I’ve been establishing networks and connections over the last few months and have already facilitated introductions for industry related startups to the University of Bath. If you are an advanced engineering business developing innovative materials, products, services or processes the AEBAH offers invaluable support either through tailored workshops or business mentoring. The programme provides 12 hours of free support and the possibility to collaborate with researchers at the University of Bath. The sectors include Automotive, Aerospace, Defence, Maritime, Energy and Space and is open to Founders or Managers of early stage and high growth SMEs. It is really simple to apply, the main requirement being that the business is already a registered company - our links with academics and researchers at the University of Bath can provide collaborate opportunities that are invaluable for any ambitious early stage business.
The launch event will give us a good platform to highlight the programme to key influencers who will hopefully help raise the profile of this business support programme.”
The Advanced Engineering Business Acceleration Hub has recently launched a website dedicated to the programme which provides detail of what is available, along with case studies and the latest news and events - the content will grow as the programme does. It is also how people can apply for support through the programme.

Keep an eye-out for the post-launch event review which will be published after the event on 13th March.
